Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

IASTM is a technique similar to deep tissue massage but with a specialized tool instead of a clinician’s hands. It is used to detect and release scar tissue, adhesions, and fascial restrictions. This technique enables a clinician to locate adhesions and restrictions in the soft tissue through vibrations of the instrument. Once these areas have been identified, clinicians may then utilize the instruments to restore optimal function.

What are the benefits of IASTM?

IASTM can help reduce pain, increase circulation, increase flexibility and range of motion, break up scar tissue, enhance performance and can help improve recovery post exercise.

Who can be treated with IASTM?

Anyone! It is a great modality not only for treating injuries and chronic conditions, but also for preventative maintenance, recovery after a workout, and increasing range of motion in healthy patients. It is safe to use on the general population, as well as many pediatric and geriatric patients.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient Chinese treatment method that has been used for thousands of years. It is unique in that it uses suction, instead of downward pressure, to alleviate tension. Cupping is used to increase blood flow, reduce muscle tension/tightness, improve mobility and reduce pain. This increasingly popular treatment works well for:

• Soft Tissue Injuries

• Muscle Spasms

• Quicker Recovery From Workouts

How does cupping work?

Cupping creates a suction on the skin which can help loosen and lift the connective tissue and increase blood and lymph flow to the skin and muscles. Cupping can help stimulate the body’s natural healing process to treat chronic pain, relieve tension and calm the nervous system. It is a great modality to help improve mobility of a joint, reduce pain and reduce muscle tension.

Does it hurt?

Cupping does not hurt. On the contrary, it is quite relaxing.

Will it leave marks?

Cupping may leave some marks after your treatment as the suction from cupping will pull toxins to the surface. Marks can fade within hours or last several days. The more treatment you receive in an area, the lighter the marks will be.
